TezWrld Sentinel Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the TezWrld Sentinel Android app ("Sentinel") made by TezWrld LLC ("TezWrld", "we", "us") handles information. Sentinel does not require you to create an account with an email address or password.
Summary
- Your connection-check history stays on your phone. It is not uploaded to TezWrld.
- Sentinel does not collect your precise location, Wi-Fi network name or password, contacts, files, browsing history, or payment card details.
- Online features (regional outage reports and watching other devices) are off until you turn them on in the app.
- Sentinel is free with one non-personalized banner ad from Google AdMob, shown only after Google's consent step. An optional one-time Sentinel Pro purchase removes ads. Sentinel has no analytics SDK. We do not sell your data, and your connection history is never shared with advertisers.
Permissions
- Advertising ID (free version) — used by Google's ad SDK as described under Advertising.
- Internet and network state — to run connection checks and, if you turn them on, online features.
- Notifications — requested only when needed, to show outage and device alerts.
Information that stays on your device
Sentinel checks your phone's active connection and stores up to the most recent 5,000 checks and 2,000 incidents on the device: times, connection type (for example Wi-Fi or mobile), check results, response codes and response times. Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer of app data are turned off.
To run checks, Sentinel looks up example.com and cloudflare.com through your DNS resolver, connects to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 on port 443, and requests connectivitycheck.gstatic.com/generate_204 (Google) and cp.cloudflare.com/generate_204 (Cloudflare). It may also send a simple check to your local router. Those providers and your DNS operator see your public IP address and ordinary connection details, under their own privacy policies.
If you export a CSV report, it is saved only where you choose. Exported files stay under your control and are not removed when you clear history or uninstall.
Optional online features
Online features require your consent in the app. When you turn them on:
- Device identity: Sentinel signs in with an anonymous Firebase Authentication identity (no email or name).
- Regional outage reports: the country you select, and optionally an internet provider network number (ASN), are sent to our service to look up published outage reports. GPS is not used.
- Watching devices (remote monitoring): our service stores the monitor's name and type, the controlling device identity, the identities of paired watchers, a hashed device credential, the latest check-in time and status, and online/offline events. A watched device sends check-ins, not its diagnostic history.
- Push alerts: if you enable remote alerts, your device's Firebase Cloud Messaging token is stored so alerts can be delivered.
Opening the Outages screen performs a public availability check of our service. This does not create a Firebase identity or turn on online features, but Cloudflare receives ordinary connection details, including your IP address.
Advertising (free version)
The free version shows one banner ad above the app's navigation tabs, provided by Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). Before any ad is requested, Sentinel uses Google's User Messaging Platform to ask for your consent where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland). Ads are requested as non-personalized ads. Ads are never shown in notifications or in background work, and Sentinel Pro users are not shown ads.
When ads are shown, Google collects information from your device, including your IP address and approximate location derived from it, device identifiers such as the Android advertising ID, ad interactions (such as views and taps), and diagnostic and performance information, to deliver and measure ads, limit how often they appear, and prevent fraud. Sentinel never gives advertisers your connection history, network details, monitors or online-feature data. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Your choices: where required, open Settings › Sentinel Pro › Advertising privacy choices in the app to review or change your consent. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings. Buying Sentinel Pro removes ads.
Sentinel Pro purchase
Sentinel Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase through Google Play. Google Play processes the payment; TezWrld does not receive your card details. Sentinel stores the Google Play purchase record (order ID, product, purchase time, purchase token and Google's signature) on your phone, encrypted with an Android Keystore key, and checks it with Google Play to restore your purchase or to remove Pro after a refund. Google Play's privacy terms apply to the payment.
Service providers we use
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Messaging) — anonymous device sign-in and push delivery. Firebase privacy
- Cloudflare (Workers and D1 database) — hosts the Sentinel service and its database, and is the source of regional outage reports (Cloudflare Radar). Cloudflare privacy policy
- Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform (free version) — ad delivery, measurement and consent. Google Privacy Policy
- Google Play Billing — processes the optional Sentinel Pro purchase. Google Privacy Policy
These providers process IP addresses, identifiers, timestamps and request details needed to run their services (for Google's ad services, also as described under Advertising). We share information only with these providers to operate Sentinel, or when required by law.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. Device credentials are stored encrypted with Android Keystore (or Windows DPAPI for the Windows companion). Raw IP addresses are not stored in the Sentinel database; short-lived hashed rate-limit records are deleted when they expire. Exported setup files contain a private credential — keep them secure.
Retention
- Remote online/offline events and alert delivery records: up to 30 days.
- Regional outage report cache: up to 24 hours (on the service and on your phone).
- Pairing codes: up to 10 minutes.
- Device registrations: while used; inactive registrations are deleted after 90 days.
- Monitors and watches: until you delete them, stop watching, or delete your online data.
- Deleted records may remain in Cloudflare database recovery backups for up to 30 days before they expire.
Deleting your data
In the app, use Delete my online data to remove the monitors your device controls, its watches, its notification token and related service records, and to request removal of its Firebase anonymous identity. Use Clear history in the app, clear Sentinel's app data in Android settings, or uninstall to remove on-device history. Uninstalling alone does not delete online data. Full instructions: Delete Sentinel data.
Children
Sentinel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through Sentinel, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change how Sentinel handles information, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
